By the end of the tercet Age, ÃÆ'¶ had unified with e (thats why the Grey Mountains appear as Ered Mithrin and not ÃÆ'â€rÃÆ'¶d Mithrin on the function to LotR!), but we still need to refer to this sound when discussing obsolete Sindarin.
